Colder Weather Brings Higher Bills

The recent prolonged cold snap is going to be tough on many HCEC members. Our service territory has experienced extreme cold temperatures for a longer period than what we normally see this time of the year.  For fifteen days (12/23 – 01/06) our average temperature through the territory was 37°.  The highest demand for electricity during this period for our system was On Monday (January 1).  The usage for our entire system doubled from what it is on a typical day.
